Fira Barcelona will once again host the European Congress of Cardiology in 2017. This congress is one of the most important medical and scientific meetings in the world attracting more than 30,000 experts.
It is going to take place from the 30th of August to the 3rd of September in Gran Via’s enclosure. The event, organized by the European Society of Cardiology (ESC) has already been held in Fira before, in 1992, 1999, 2009 and 2014, which has been one of the best editions in its history, according to Isabel Bardinet, CEO of ESC.
The fair also hosted the 15th World Congress of this specialty in 2006. In the 2014 Barcelona meeting, it brought together more than 30,000 specialists from 100 countries, 4,500 scientific studies were presented and 5,000 companies represented with the latest advances in cardiology and surgery, imaging techniques and technological innovations participated in it.
Last year, at the ESC Congress held in Rome, the total number of participants reached 32,897 and a record number of participants are expected in Barcelona this year. The Fira facilities, its organizational capacity, Barcelona’s charm and its position in the field of health sciences, are all key factors when it comes to attracting this important event that generates a great economic impact on the city.
The ESC Congress 2017 will bring together groups of experts coming from different countries (clinicians, nurses, health sector representatives, opinion leaders, technicians, etc.) to raise awareness of cardiovascular disease, which causes more than 4 million deaths each year in Europe. In particular, the aim of this event is the promotion of prevention, diagnosis and management of heart and vascular diseases.
In addition, during the ESC Congress, different conferences and meetings are going to be held between several speakers, some of the most outstanding scientists and doctors in the world among them. Its purpose is trying to provide a complete picture of cardiovascular science and answering all the questions of those interested.
